Fearless

I was speaking with one of my neighbors today, her birthday was before 1930 and her greatest fear is falling down.  I am sure there are many others her junior that share this same fear.  I explained to her this is one of the reasons CrossFit trains for the knowable and unknowable.  Are you ready for when you
find yourself on a slippery surface, when someone unexpectedly steps into your path or when your terrain becomes steep or uneven?  These are just some of the occasions when your level of fitness can save you.
Specifically strength, balance and agility are obvious but how about confidence.  Too common is the practice of giving up yet more and more things we use to be able to do as we age.  I am in the business of doing more,   I have men and a women in their 70’s who are doing things that they have never done.  Who
says Olympic lifting is not a good retirement hobby.  Some of my best students at the Olympic lifts
are women in their 50’s. It is amazing how fast someone picks up movement when they don’t have to unlearn doing it wrong.
Other than the obvious physical benefits of learning new gymnastics movements and Olympic lifts bestow is the tremendous dose of confidence mastering these movements brings to all.
Find that fearless child inside you and start getting things back. Thank-you Aunt C. for the inspiring photo.
