Everybody Squats!

Everybody Squats!

The squat is paramount in remaining healthy
and independent in life.  With the loss
of ability to squat properly we lose our ability to get up out of a chair or on
and off the toilet without other assistance.
I was watching my grand-daughter who is about 18 months run around a
play.  She drops perfectly in to a heel
down, butt to ankle squat at will, without instruction or example.  I have yet to have a client to come to me that
can squat that well on day one.    In much of Europe if you cannot squat you
will have a very hard time using any public restroom, that’s right if you want
to get over that hole in the floor you are going to have to squat.  Incidentally they have very little occurrence
of hemorrhoids where a squat toilets are used instead of sit down toilets.  This doesn’t mean you need to throw out your
toilet, though they do make some nifty adapters so you can get into a squat
position.  I suggest getting a proficient
squat and then see if you want to change things around in the bathroom.  Thank-you Lillipad for the photo, you can
